Shakespeare's Globe Education Program: Student Life
Co-curricular program
The AIFS Resident Director organizes an active program so students can maximize their time abroad and experience as much as possible of the social and cultural life of London and nearby counties. See the London study abroad page for examples. In addition to the optional activities described in that section, a number of included events have been arranged specifically for students on the Globe Education program to enable them to become fully immersed in the life and work of the Globe Theatre. Students will attend 3 performances at the Globe and experience Shakespeare’s work just as theater-goers did in the 1600s. The Globe also houses an engaging and informative exhibition which students will visit with a professional guide. Following a fascinating tour of the theater space, students will walk through the exhibition learning about the rebuilding of the theater, the unusual musical instruments used on stage, the special effects used in Elizabethan times and today, the design, making and fitting of costumes and how Shakespeare’s plays were originally recorded in print. See the London study abroad page for examples.
Optional Paris excursion
An optional weekend excursion to Paris is available. Students who apply after the deadline may enroll subject to availability.
